Coaches

To: Affiliate Presidents, District Directors, District Registrars, Youth Council, Coaches Section, Girls'/Women's Section

The Coaches Section has written the policy below in regards to allowing more time for coaches to complete the online age-specific modules. This policy has been approved by the Executive Committee. We are also sending the attached message to the few thousand coaches who have yet to register for a module. We appreciate your efforts in making sure coaches are in compliance with the Coaching Education Program certification requirements.

Thank you,
Mark Tabrum

Coaches,

For any coaches needing new CEP certification, please go to the USA Hockey website link below to register for any of the Texas clinics posted below.  Dont wait until the last minute to register, especially the Level 4 clinic that is being held in Frisco this year.  Every eligible coach should take full advantage of this local opportunity as the next chance to attend a level 4 in Texas will be at least 3 yrs away.  All coaches should be fully certified for the age and level of team that they are coaching this season.

Thanks

Proper certification is a must for all coaches on the bench so Associations need to be sure that their coaches are attending coaching clinics.  Each coach should be certified at the proper level for the division he/she is coaching.

First Aid for Coaches

USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program, together with the Safety and Protective Equipment Committee, has joined with the American Red Cross to provide additional training for our coaches and other participants.

Available online through the Indianapolis Chapter of the Red Cross “First Aid for Coaches” was developed by the Red Cross in conjunction with the USOC for use by its member National Governing Bodies

To access “First Aid for Coaches” go to www.USAHockey.com and click on “Coaches” from the top menu. The Red Cross link is on your left. There is complete menu of available training and “First Aid for Coaches” is the course that will be most relevant for our members.& nbsp;

USA Hockey’s CEP recommends all coaches consider obtaining this training, and highly recommends at least one coach from each team be trained.
