Disabled Hockey

CNN broadcast on Disabled Hockey

Check out the disabled hockey piece broadcast on CNN on 4/17/12 after completion of USA Hockey’s National Disabled Hockey Festival hosted by the Stars at the DPSC Farmers Branch and Euless on April 13-15, 2012. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped make this such a successful event, especially Bob Smith, Keith Andresen, and Taylor Lipsett. Special thanks to the Festival Committee: Taylor Lipsett, Keith Andresen, Suzanne Plott, Angela Duhe, Laura Hopkins, Cara Gentry Bryan Heft, and Greg Stuchell for many hours of volunteering. To the Team Texas girls team coached by Stan Tugolukov, for going way above and beyond to not only participate, but to help in many ways; and to the Dallas Stars Selects coached by Bob McBey. Thank you to the many people who volunteered to staff the event, from across the hockey community and the public at large. Outstanding job by all involved!

Texas had 4 players named to the USA Hockey’s Men’s National Sled Team after tryouts on July 16/17 in Rochester, NY,.  The 4 players include Rico Roman, Jen Lee, Josh Sweeney, and Taylor Lipsett, all of which will prepare for the 2012 World Championships in Oslo, Norway, in April 2012.  Another Texas player, Chris Leverkuhn, was named to the USA National Development Sled Hockey Team.  Chris will take part in multiple training camps with the National Team, as well as play exhibition series with Canada's Developmental Team. Texas is tied with New York for the most number of in-state players on the Men’s National Team. This is a great sign for sled hockey in Texas and it is nice to see the hard work paying off!  Good luck to these hard-working, committed sled hockey players from Texas!
